Canadian Permanent Residency
Canadian Permanent Residency (PR) enables eligible foreign nationals to live, work, and study in Canada on a long‑term basis, subject to Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) requirements. Spouses, common‑law partners, and dependent children
Parents and grandparents, when the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) intake is opened by IRCC through an invitation process
3. Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
Provinces and territories may nominate candidates whose skills align with regional economic needs, through streams for:
Skilled workers

Demonstrate access to sufficient settlement funds where required by IRCC.
Complete an immigration medical examination with an IRCC‑designated panel physician, if requested.
Provide police certificates from relevant countries of residence and not be inadmissible for criminality or security reasons.
Be otherwise admissible under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, including with respect to health, financial, and misrepresentation provisions.
PR Application Process Overview
While each program has its own procedures, permanent residence applications typically involve:
Program assessment – Identifying which PR pathway(s) you may qualify for, based on current IRCC criteria.
Document preparation – Collecting required documents such as valid travel documents, educational credentials and assessments (where applicable), language test results from IRCC‑approved providers, employment reference letters, proof of funds (if required), police certificates, and medical exam results.
Electronic submission – Completing the necessary forms and uploading documents through IRCC’s secure online system, and paying applicable government fees.
Biometrics – Providing fingerprints and photographs at an authorized collection point when biometrics are required.
