Study Permit Eligibility Requirements

3. Genuine Temporary Resident Intent
Convince an IRCC officer you will leave Canada at the end of your authorized stay by demonstrating:
Strong ties to your home country (family, employment, property)
Realistic study plans aligned with your background and future career goals
4. Lawful Character
No criminal record or security concerns
Provide police certificates when requested by IRCC based on country of residence
5. Good Health
Agree to complete an immigration medical examination with an IRCC panel physician if required based on:
Program length and location
Field of study (healthcare, childcare, education)
Time spent in designated countries
